Natalie's Score: 96/100

A muscular Super Tuscan. A robust Sangiovese and Merlot red wine blend, firm in structure with lots of dark fruit and spicy aromas on the nose, dark cherry, juicy blackberry, black plum, blood orange citrus, toasty oak spice with a long flinty, peppery finish on the palate. Good now, but better in three years. Good cellaring candidate.

Food pairings: bean-based dishes, lamb chops, grilled cheese sandwich, chateaubriand, cheddar cheeses.

Reviews and Ratings

Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review:

A big brute of a Supertuscan blend laden with chocolate cherries and blackberry crumble. Super full bodied but with tannins that are so ripe they are like silky licorice strands. Lead pencil shavings add an intriguing savoury aroma with a delicate violet oaky finish. Try with rare rack of lamb. @wrightwineblog
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is a complex, big wine showing raspberry and bramble, smoke and hints of savoury. Firm and tannic at this point but it will be stunning after a few years of cellaring. Enjoy it eventually with grilled steak. Tasted |October 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A Tuscan blend of Sangiovese and Merlot, an aged, full-bodied wine with aromas of cherries and other dark berries. Medium-garnet, on the palate more fruit and some earthiness. Very dry, should be aged for several more years. Serve with rare beef.
From the Tuscany wine region, Luce 2016 is a robust, well-structured Italian red wine blend of Sangiovese and Merlot. Fragrant with bright cherry, plum, baking spice and vanilla aromas on the nose. Mouth-filling with dark cherries, dark chocolate, underbrush, savoury spice flavours, elegant with velvety tannins. Great balance and structure, supple and sleek. Produced in partnership with Vittoria Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi. - Community Wine Reviews
