A terrific toasty robust sparkling wine from South Africa made in the same traditional method as Champagne. French Hugenot Jean Roi in 1694 was granted this land. Perfect for shellfish and toasting.

Food pairings: oyster poor boy sandwiches, tempura vegetables and seafood, ripened semi-hard cheeses.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This rich sparkling wine has aromas of baked apples and pears as well as almond and mineral notes on the nose. On the palate, it has crisp lemon flavours with almond at the finish. It feels opulent and is very enjoyable.

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Elegant white fruit, brioche and slight citrus notes on this traditionally made sparkling wine. You can enjoy this bubbly without draining your bank account. Surprise your date and enjoy with potato chips and a movie during a stormy evening.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
