Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is a classic Saint-Émilion blend. It has a somewhat dusty, restrained nose with a few fleeting hints of cedar. Well integrated with slightly chalky tannins on the finish. Pair with short ribs or rich stews. Tasted June 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2016 Les Hauts de la Gaffeliere comes from Saint-Émilion, one of the best wine regions of Bordeaux. Aromas of red currant, red plum, bay leaf, pencil lead, allspice and oak. Medium body with youthful character, the wine shows a clean balance and a short finish. Palate: red currant, pomegranate, bay leaf, charcoal, dill, dark chocolate and oak. Enjoy.
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Fresh and floral on the nose with violet, red fruit, and dark fruit, all accented by mild smoke. Palate is dry with plenty of fresh dark fruit, the fruit balancing the oak influence nicely. Toasty cocoa is the most apparent note on the finish as oak narrowly edges out the fruit. Still a little on the tight and youthful side, the firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and full body bode well for cellaring. 89 now, definitely a 90+ once mature and more expressive. Enjoy with a beef pot roast and roasted potatoes.
Les Hauts De La Gaffelière 2016 is a Grand Cru Saint-Émilion at a fantastic price. Juicy, supple and elegant with ripe black currant, dark cherry, savoury herb and sweet spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm. Good now but better in 2021. - Community Wine Reviews
