A full-bodied, robust and balanced Spanish red produced from mostly Tempranillo with some Mazuelo. Lots of character here with fleshy blackberry, dried raisin fruit, sous bois, dark chocolate and smoky flavours on the palate. Ready to enjoy now and for the next five years.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Typical Rioja wine from the bodegas Lan, the Reserva 2012 is made from 92% Tempranillo and 8% Mazuelo. The wine reveals a lovely bouquet of dried blueberry, raisin, dried rose, black pepper, cigar box and oak. Sensual tannins, with well integrated acidity, this Spaniard offers a medium body, coupled with a long dried fruit finish. Palate: tart blueberry, dried blackberry, dried leaves, parmesan cheese, tobacco and oak. A crowd pleaser with elegant finesse. Enjoy!
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aromas of ripe blackberry, raisin, dried herbs, and tobacco smoke. Full bodied, smooth on the palate, with bright acidity, dried and ripe fruit flavours, and balanced hints of mocha, smoke, spice and herbs. Decant for at least 30 minutes and enjoy with Prime rib.
From the Rioja wine region, Lan 2012 Reserva is mature and fleshy with dried, raisined fruit, tanned leather, dark chocolate, dried sweet tobacco and smoke. Full-bodied and balanced. Pair with a sausage cassoulet or roast game dishes. - Community Wine Reviews
