Definitely a Pinot Grigio to try! For years Pinot Grigio had a bad rap as an insipid, bulk made, bland white wine. Not so in the case of this beauty from Kew Vineyards on the Beamsville Bench.

Very aromatic with notes of white stone fruit, pear, mango and lemon. There's some heft to this white which indicates to me it's gone through some malolactic fermentation (tart malic acid in wine converts to a softer and creamier lactic acid). Make no mistake, there is still some acidity but it's not the mouth watering kind and it's supported by a mineral backbone. Flavours of lemon, grapefruit and nectarine.

This wine paired nicely with a triple cream brie cheese!

As with many Ontario Pinot Grigios, this wine has more body than its Italian counterparts. It also has a coppery hue indicating a little skin contact in making the wine. This white is a fresh, medium bodied wine touched with grapefruit peel, lemon, green apple, and minerals. It should do well with apps, seafood, or sipping by itself. Stock is getting low at Vintages, but still available at the winery. Drink now.
