Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

There is a fair bit of depth and interest offered up in this Portuguese blend of 50% Alicante Bouschet and 30% Touriga National supplemented with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. There is an interesting hint earthiness on the nose that reminds you of fresh from the garden carrots or beets. Smooth palate with some perceived vegetal sweetness like candied beets. Interesting wine with good body and balance. Rather delicious! Pair with ratatouille, spaghetti or polvo. Good value. Tasted July 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

From the Casa Relvas, a family owned winery, the Herdade de Sao Miguel 2017 shows warm aromas of black plum, blackberry, violet, dust, vanilla and oak. A true Portugese wine, the Sao Miguel is crafted from Alicante Bouchet, Touriga Nacional, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a medium-bodied wine with a full-bodied feel, with silky tannins and a warm black fruit finish. The wine delivers flavors of blackberry, black plum, earl gray tea, bread, vanilla and oak. Enjoy!
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Half Alicante Bouschet, 30% Touriga Nacional, and the balance split between Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all aged in used French oak for six months. Intense purple-red colour. Plenty of fresh dark fruit aromas, namely black cherry and plum. Pleasing acidity, medium tannins, and a full body. A very drinkable red offering value and food friendliness. Well-suited to burgers and roasts with vegetables.
From the Alentejano wine region, Herdade São Miguel 2017 is a full-bodied 50% Alicante Bouschet and 30% Touriga National red wine blend with the balance in Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was aged for six months in previous use French oak. Fragrant with ripe red berries and sweet spice on the nose, dry, fleshy, rich and balanced with ripe red fruit, plum, sweet spice and balsamic flavours on the palate. Pair with a meaty pasta or roast chicken. - Community Wine Reviews
