Lots of sweet chocolate on the nose and palate from generous oak aging. Fleshy ripe purple plums and blueberries on the nose with sweet chocolate and mocha flavours on the palate of this smooth, full-bodied Italian red wine. Intense purple violet tints in the glass. Polished tannins. Vanilla spice sweetness on the finish. Pair with game dishes.

Food pairings: veal Parmigiano, rich lentil and tomato stew, BBQ prime ribs.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Yummy wild blueberry aromas as well as violets, eucalyptus leaves, and a touch of wood. In terms of flavours, juicy tart blackberries and sweet spice. The wine has a beautiful harmony between the flavours, the silky tannins, and the fresh acidity. Very nice!

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A velvety and aromatic red blend from Italy's Veneto I.G.T. Ripe cherry, vanilla, slight sweet spice and chocolate notes abound on this smooth, mouth-watering red wine. Enjoy with venison, game or grilled lamb chops.
Tasted Nov. 2017
Gran Passione was founded in 1928 by Carlo Botter. Since that time the small cellar has grown to become a thriving producer of Italian wines. Gran Passione Rosso (2016) is ripe dark fruit, tobacco leaf, leather and smoke on the nose. Lots of ripe dark fruit and earthy purple flowers on the palate. Tannins are well integrated and this is a food-friendly wine with great acidity. Pair this one with lamb stew. - Community Wine Reviews
