The 2013 vintage of this robust Italian red wine is a blend of 90% Prugnolo Gentile, 8% Canaiolo, 2% Colorino grapes. A robust Italian red wine with savoury, meaty aromas and flavours. Pleasantly bitter black fruit on the palate and finish. Pair with prime rib.

Nobile Di Montepulciano food pairings: prime rib roast, roast saddle of boar, bison burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Simon Chen rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This tastes like a baby brunello with half of the price. It has good acidity and bright red fruits on the palate and finishes with long long tannin. Very balanced and will pair well with tomato-sauce dishes.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

On the nose, we have tart black plums as well as red berry, cinnamon, floral notes, cedar, earthy notes, and hints of eucalyptus.

On the palate, we have dark berry, wood, subtle black olive, and coffee at the finish. It is a full bodied wine with tannins that are present and a slightly bitter finish. Lovely wine!

Wineboy rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Rich and dark, with solid tannins around modern black fruit.
Craig Kuziemsky rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Red and black fruit and floral aromas with tart cherry, tobacco, and spice on the palate. Finishes with moderate tannins. Tasted July 2018.
Gattavecchi 2013 is a robust and savoury blend of 90% Prugnolo Gentile, 8% Canaiolo, 2% Colorino with a smoky toasty finish. Pair with BBQ steak.- Community Wine Reviews
