This savoury and juicy red wine, features big black plum and berry aromas and flavours as well as dried herbs and spices. Full-bodied and smooth carmenere. Offers incredible quality and taste for the price. Try it with a hearty meat dish. Lovely dark spices and black plums on the nose of this robust red wine. Decant for 1-2 hours.

Carmenère food pairings: spicy red meats, tomato-based dishes, rare steak, dark chocolate.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Great Carmenere for the price. Carm almost always hits above its weight for social gatherings. It has a cool history, quality for price it is great, aaaand it has an exotic spiciness to it that always entertains the unfamiliar enthusiast at your parties or barbecues
This one has a pretty deep ruby/garnet colour. It is glass saturating.
Aromatically, there is dried herbs (thyme, cumin, mung bean, and red pepper), plum, bramble, and cherry. Decent oaking gives it a smoke and chocolate that is still pretty subtle underneath Carmenere's full bodied attitude.
A little heat from the alcohol in this wine. More spices (especially herbal ones), smoke, blueberry amd cherry, licorice, and cocoa.
Lovely choice for a barbecue, a gift for a host or hostess, or maybe just an exotic alternative for Cab or Malbec lovers. Drink more Carm, dammit!
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

100% Carmenere. Late pics at the end of me with an eight day fermentation and a 20 day maceration. Aged 16 months in new and used French oak. Deep ruby colour with pronounced aromas - dark plum, dark cherry, blackberry, cooked fruit, bell pepper, chocolate, minerals, smoky and stemmy. Also a little bit of horse sweat and barnyard funk which gives it a real personality. Flavours are full and ripe with blackberry, blueberry, spicy clove and cedar cigar box. Medium acidity with a full body. Medium tannins with a long, dry finish. (4g/L). Pair with chipotle braised beef ribs and stuffed peppers. 89 points
Maxwell rated this wine as 87/100
From famed producers, Concha Y Toro, Marques De Casa Concha (2014) is a full-bodied, lush and smooth Carmenère from the Rapel Valley. Look for ripe black plum, dried herbs and some savoury spice on this juicy red aged in French oak barrel for 16 months. This wine is looking for a hearty, savoury meat dish. - Community Wine Reviews
