Natalie's Score: 91/100

Extremely, but deliciously oaky on the nose and palate. Generous oak aging will come together and integrate in this wine with cellar time. Aromas of blackened fruit, smoke and espresso. Decant 1-2 hours and pair with rare steak.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Big and bold. Robust in the mouth, charred barrel smokiness, ripe plum, blackberry, baking spices. Long finish, persistence of dark fruit and spice. Medium acidity, medium tannins, smooth integrated. Well balanced. Paired well with seared rare beef tenderloin, baby potatoes with pan fried capers. Tasted 2012 vintage in Sept 2017 after decanting 2h. Wonderful wine and good value. 92 points. Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This wine holds lots of promise for drinking in the future. Lovely leather and smoke on the nose and palate. Tannins are still firm and there is a slight chalkiness in the mouth. Needs food - saucy beef or strong cheeses. Tasted December 2016.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
