An extraordinary value for this price. The Fronsac region of Bordeaux is on the right bank of the Dordogne River. Chateau Beausejour is made from 100% Merlot grapes. Aromas of dark cherry and smoke. Suprisingly high alcohol at 15% though not out of balance. Pair with grilled meats.

Food pairings: game roast, roast chicken, veal cutlets.

Reviews and Ratings

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Located on the right bank of the Dordogne River, in the Fronsac region, Chateau Beausejour delivers a true Merlot style wine with deep and rich character. Chateau Beausejour Cuvee Prestige 2016 is one of the hidden gems of the region. It offers deep aromas of sugarplum, black cherry, bay leaf, new leather, chocolate and cedar. Full-bodied, this Merlot wine shows great fruit quality, well integrated tannins, and round and fruity finish. Palate: blackberry, dark skin plum, violet, leather, backing spice, coffee and cedar. Delicious wine. Enjoy!
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

From the Fronsac region of Bordeaux, this is 100% Merlot, and shows aromas of black plum, mocha, vanilla, bay leaf, leather and oaky smoke. Full bodied with firm tannins, lots of black fruit on the palate and more leather, smoke and spice on the finish. Decant for 45-60 minutes and enjoy with a grilled steak.
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

A full-bodied Merlot varietal at 15%, dark purple in the glass followed by aromas of black fruit and vanilla. Very high tannins so save for drinking for 2-4 years. Tasted January 2020.
Château Beausejour 2016 is a dry medium-plus-bodied 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon red wine blend from the Fronsac wine region with spiced plum, bright cherry and red berry jam flavours on the palate. Enjoy with a pork tenderloin Wellington. - Community Wine Reviews
