Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Early in the morning, Anarchist Mountain casts its long cool shadow over the Haynes Creek Vineyard until the sun bursts over the mountain ridge. The high winds start to kick up the dirt and dust from dry ground over the vineyard and the challenge of dark and light, cold and hot, tests the land, vines and grapes to make this beautiful Meritage blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Can you say smoooooth? because this is the hallmark of CedarCreek Estate Winery's 2021 Meritage. Very approachable now, the wine is dry, medium-plus-bodied, soft with plushy, velvety tannins and a mouthful of juicy ripe dark fruits, plum, crushed black raspberry, black currant, smoked meat and savoury herb flavours flowing fresh and long over the mid-palate waiting for that piece of perfectly grilled sirloin steak to complement it. Tasted May 2023.

While Meritage red wine is easygoing to begin with, CedarCreek Meritage 2021 is so laid back and easy to enjoy on its own or with great conversations and friends, Drink or hold to 2028.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
