KWV Cathedral Cellar 2018 Pinotage is a savoury Western Cape red, fragrant with aromas of charcuterie, ripe dark cherry and smoky Madagascar vanilla. Savoury and full on the palate with ripe dark plum, dark cherry, smoked meat, mocha, toasty oak and vanilla flavours on the palate. Wine grapes are sourced from the Darling, Stellenbosch and Swartland wine regions.

Pinotage food pairings: grilled lamb chops, veal Porterhouse, bison burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lovely with aromas of blackberry and black cherry, as well as some hints of dried fruit, warm spice and tobacco. Full bodied, with some medium grippy tannins, and medium, balancing acididty to complement those ripe berry notes and a spicy finish with hints of cedar and oak. Enjoy with rich game meats or any mushroom based dish.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
