Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Massive nose brimming with vanilla and prune, accented by black cherry, plum, and blackberry. Thick and viscous on the palate. Big tannins possessing huge grip. Good acidity. Impressive balance despite the large proportions of acidity, tannins, and alcohol, reaching 15.7% ABV. Fig, raisin, and jam come out on the palate. Quite young, needs to see about a decade before we see what this wine is truly capable of. Go classic with big flavoured cheeses, charcuterie, or risotto all amarone.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a lovely 'entry level' Amarone. Light smoke and tobacco on the nose. Silky and smooth on the palate. Nicely balanced. This is a feminine Amarone, if there is such a thing. Medium finish. Serve with Osso bucco or pasta. Tasted April 2019.
Castel Del Lago 2015 is a rich and fleshy Amarone Della Valpolicella from the Veneto wine region. Lots of juicy dark fruit, liquid dark cherry and savoury herb flavours on the palate. Lovely with a meaty lasagne. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
