From the Campania wine region, Cantina San Paolo 2017 Aglianico is so juicy, complex and under $15! Dry, medium-plus-bodied and intense with so many layers of flavours. Lots of fine herbs, pepper spice, cedar spice and earthy flavours along with the dark berry, cherry and black currant you'll find on this spicy, engaging dry red. Finishes long with vibrant acidity. Pour with a meaty lasagne or Margherita pizza.

Aglianico food pairings: grilled chicken, veal cutlets, turkey burgers, chicken Kiev, grilled game sausages.

Reviews and Ratings

Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Aglianico is known as the Barolo of this south because of its finesse and elegance. This is a great example and an outstanding price. Expect tea leaves and oregano with red berries and sandalwood along with dried craisins. Try with spiced yoghurt grilled chicken skewers with fresh tomato salad @wrightwineblog
Trent Mayers rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This wine from Campania is very good, especially at this price point. It’s quite pale ruby with noticeable tannin and is focussed on red fruits like cherry, cranberry, currant, and raspberry, but also shows developing herbs and leather. A few years of bottle age should settle down the tannins. Pair it with hearty tomato based pastas. 4 stars out of 5.
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

A medium-bodied Aglianico with red berry and spicy aromas. High tannins so decanting or ageing is recommended. Pair with rustic-style tomato and cheese baked Italian dishes.
Great acidity on this Aglianico from the Campania wine region. Cantina San Paolo 2017 is a robust, ruby red with earthy blue florals, ripe red and dark berries on the nose. Dry with sour cherry, dark fruit and savoury spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are grippy. Decant for one hour prior to pouring with rabbit fricassee. - Community Wine Reviews
