The 2016 vintage of the robust Cairanne Creation Grosset is a blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah grapes. The wine was matured in both wooden foudres (large oak barrels) and cement tanks. Aromas of dark fruit and smoke. Great price. Pair with grilled meats.

Cairanne food pairings: grille chicken, roast turkey, veal chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Great value. An excellent option to buy by the case at this price, this old world red is a great find for foodies. Approachable, balanced, food friendly. Dry with mouthwatering acidity, chalky medium tannins. Wonderful. Tasted 2016 vintage in April 2019. Packing a big 14.5% ABV this wine pairs well with braised red meats, charcuterie, and outdoor grilling season faves. 91 points #buybythecase
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Ripe fruits led by cherry and plum, supported by sage, smoke, and tar, and accented by violet and burnt cedar. Firm tannins and acidity, built to last and will see a decade in fine form. Palate combines the fruit notes with sweet smoke and slight minerality. Very nice blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah. Pair with lamb kebabs or grilled steak.

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is an easy sipper with the signature Rhone finesse and refinement. Light enough to sip with light cheeses but enough body to serve with a tenderloin or steak. Excellent Value.
Grosset Création 2016 is a medium-plus-bodied Côtes Du Rhône-Villages from the Cairanne commune with earthy floral and wild herb aromas on the nose. Elegant with ripe black raspberry, dark cherries, savoury spice flavours on the palate, an intense red wine blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. - Community Wine Reviews
