Natalie's Score: 89/100

This full-bodied southern French red wine is a blend of Grenache and Syrah, grapes that thrive in the warm, dry conditions of the Campo de Borja region. The Grenache vines are 15-30 years old and the Syrah vines are 10 years of age. Lots of fleshy black fruit and toasty oak. Pair with grilled meats.

Food pairings: farmer's style pork chops, slow-cooked pork ribs, crown pork roast.

Reviews and Ratings

Douglas McMillan rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Medium purple with rich aromas of ripe cherries and black plums, followed by a little vanilla, baking spices, and earthiness. The taste is ripe blackberry and cherry with some spice and a medium acidity. The finish is mirrors the taste but tends towards the blackberry. A well balanced wine for stews, pork, or sipping, and a great value.

Borsao's Bole (2013) is a red wine blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, two wine grapes that really flourish in the Campo De Borja D.O. with the variance of day and night time temperatures in this hot, arid region. This is a great value wine. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
