Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

An interesting nose of cocoa, black fruit and light vegetal notes. Pronounced, lush black plum and bramble on the palate with fine, soft tannins. Highly quaffable, with everything in balance, and winding up with a lingering medium plus finish. Pair with ribs or lamb. Tasted January 2020.. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A full flavoured dose of licorice and blackberry with mocha, cinnamon and pepper. Beautifully balanced with both power and elegance. Try with lamb cutlets and chilli basil noodles. @wrightwineblog
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A full-bodiedj, southern Okanagan Valley Shiraz with a bold, statement label- Black Sage. Plum and blueberry aromas and vanilla(oak influence) on the palate with dark berries. Medium acidity and tannins, with chocolate on the long finish. Pair with barbequed pork, lamb or beef.
Black Sage Vineyard 2016 Shiraz is produced by Sumac Ridge Estate Winery. The winery is located on the east side of the Okanagan Valley and is prime real estate for growing Syrah/Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wine grapes. It's hot and the wine grapes look for their water here. Vines have less foliage with lower yields giving intensely-flavoured grapes. You can bet this Shiraz has come by its rich and intense layers of dark cherry, blueberry, dark chocolate and pepper spice flavours honestly. Tannins are structured by manageable. Decant this Shiraz one hour prior to pouring with a big, juicy, well-marbled rib eye steak. - Community Wine Reviews
