What a delightful, robust, peppery BC red wine made from the Zweigelt grape. Fleshy ripe blackberries and black plums on the palate with cracked black pepper. So juicy and tasty! Pair with grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Arrowleaf Cellars planted Zweigelt grape vines in 1999 and continue to make a varietal wine from it. Typically the wine is deep in colour -- deep ruby in this case -- and fruity in flavour. Arrowleaf's Zweigelt (2016) is a medium-bodied, dry red with dark berry, ripe cherry and damson plum flavours all over the mid-palate. Finishes with light cake spice and vanilla flavours. Light tannins, balanced acidity and at 12.7% abv. this is an easy-drinking red to enjoy a glass or two on its own now, but also pairs great with roast turkey or Cornish game hens. This vintage was awarded Gold at BC Best of Varietal Wine Awards (2018).
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Medium ruby with violet purple reflections. This is smoky and spicy right off the bat in the glass, showing red cherries, cranberries and strong minerality. Flavours also reflect these touches, with a pleasant softness. Strawberry, dark plums and fresh haskap flavours envelop the senses. Well infused with herbal notes, a hint of milk chocolate and cherry chutney at the back. Perfectly balanced, unique and enjoyable with sublimely subtle tannin. Get some meat on the barbecue for this one! Herbed pork loin, lamb chops, sausages and mixed veggie salads. 91 points - tasted July 2018
