Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Consistent quality from Ara Winery with this classic Marlborough Sauv Blanc. Concentrated flavours thanks to a long ripening season. Very aromatic, showing appetizing grapefruit, gooseberry and passionfruit. An exuberant palate continues these lush fruit flavours and herbal touches with mouth-watering acidity and a refreshing passionfruit/lime finish. If you want to experience what New Zealand Sauv Blanc is all about, try this one. Your taste buds will thank you!

Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is the Single Estate series from Ara - their higher price point than the Pathway series and it shows in the glass. A very refined sauvignon blanc with a lovely smooth mouthfeel, it has the typical aromas and flavours: gooseberry, lime, cut grass, fresh herbs, with an intriguing hint of hazelnut, but in a more nuanced package. Well-structured with soft but juicy acidity, you'll find it hard to put your glass down. Enjoy with seared scallops with a lime-cilantro pesto.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
