Red Wine

Le Ferme Du Mont Le Ponnant 2012, Côtes Du Rhône-Villages A.C., France: Winemaker Stéphane Vedeau lovingly brings forward luscious fruit flavours that Syrah adds to this red wine blend from the Rhone Valley. Full-bodied and smooth yet it has terrific heft and concentration. Savoury with satisfying aromas and flavours of black cherry and cedar forest floor. Decant for 1 hour for maximum pleasure. Attractive notes of black raspberry, violets and wild brush on the finish. A powerful red wine from the Rhone Valley, with seriously rich and fleshy ripe brandied cherry aromas and flavours. Polished tannins with anise and blackberry on the finish. Although Grenache leads in the blend at 80%, there's also 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre grapes in this cuvee. La Chablisienne Saint Bris 2014, Burgundy A.C., France: Pure green apple vibrancy and intensity of flavour with mouth-awakening acidity. Medium-bodied and fresh. This Burgundian white wine made in the Village appellation of Auxerrois is unusually made from the Sauvignon Blanc grape, which is lesser known than Chardonnay and far fewer wines are made from it in Burgundy. It nonetheless is superb. Enjoy with fresh oysters. Food pairings: poached seafood.
