Château Pierre de Montignac 2015, Médoc, Bordeaux A.P., France: Excellent value on this Cru Bourgeois from the Médoc, Bordeaux wine region with bright red berry, crushed blueberry, earthy violet, cocoa, vanilla flavours finishing spicy on the palate. Tannins are firm and fine-grained. Food pairings: veal chops, barbecued veal chops in red wine sauce, strong cheese. Township 7 Vineyards & Winery Seven Stars Polaris 2017, Okanagan Valley, BC V.Q.A, Canada: A gorgeous, nervy BC bubbly with notes of lime zest and green apple. Long, persistent mouse and finish. Pair with shellfish. Food pairings: fresh shellfish, hors d’oeuvres, a creamy Bleu d’Avergne or Cambozola cheese.
