One of the best British Columbia Cabs I have tasted at any price point. A Gold medal winner at the prestigious 2019 Concours International Des Cabernets in Lyon France. The grapes were cropped at only 2 tons per acre for 2016 vintage. This a Bordeaux left-bank style Cabernet Sauvignon. Bold but not overpowering. Aromas of Cassis, Black Cherry, Oak Spice, Graphite and Mint. On the Palate, Black Currant, Cherry, Cacao, Oak Spice with a lovely Dark Chocolate finish. Dense and ripe tannins ensure it will age well.

Grapes from the Black Sage and Golden Mile Benches were selected to create this elegant blend of 55% Cab Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 17.5% Cab Franc, 2.5% Petit Verdot. Aromas of black fruit, cassis and tobacco. Flavours of black cherry, plum, fig and dark chocolate. The balance and structure of this wine define perfect elegance! An extremely smooth and supple mouthfeel.

With some age this Pinot is really coming into it's own. This is a sumptuous red just a hint of violets on the nose– balanced and earthy with a lightly tannic finish. A blend of two famous ones simply dubbed 115 and 667. The cherry-like fruit probably owes its presence largely to 115 and the cinnamon-like spice to 667. Would really complement rack of NZ lamb. Available only at the winery.

A big bold Merlot, almost jammy, with ripe blackberry aroma and on the palate black plum, savoury dried herbs and a hint of mint all wrapped up in soft tannins. Decanting recommended.

Another fab vintage. Awesome black fruit dominate with soft tannins and a peppery finish.

Memorable Wine

2004 Bass Phillip Reserve Pinot Noir enjoyed with my school friend Phil Jones at his winery in Leongatha, Australia.
