It’s bursting with aromas of fresh lime and lemon sunshine. I’d pair this with Pacific coast salmon, either grilled or smoked would be lovely. This is the 30th anniversary for this family-owned winery. Tony & Barb Holler and their four sons run the winery which practices sustainable viticulture with hand-harvested grapes, low-intervention winemaking and solar power. The family created Cascadia Series out of necessity following the severe frosts of 2024 that devastated BC vineyards. To continue bringing exceptional wines to their customers, they sourced premium grapes from just across the border in Washington State. Despite the origin of the fruit, every other part of the wine’s journey, from fermentation to bottling, aging, and packaging, happened right here in the province, maintaining the jobs for those who work at this winery. You can buy this wine and all of the other wines I’m recommending today directly from the wineries’ websites or by calling them. They’ll ship your wines right to your doorstep. This is a really important way that you can support these small family farms as they depend on direct sales to survive. Also consider visiting these wineries for your next vacation or weekend getaway as they all have beautiful tasting rooms with food pairings and tours in spectacular settings.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This medium bodied Pinot Gris has presence and gives delight. It’s the pleasing doses like lemon and lime and sighs of fresh stone fruit. It’s the feeling of creamy texture and a lively acidity that refreshes. It’s the delicious finish that’s in no rush to head to the exits. It’s the elegant style. It’s everything all at once. Enjoy.

The 2024 Cascadia Series is fruit sourced from McKinley Springs and Coyote Canyon Vineyards in Washington State’s Horse Heaven Hills AVA (American Viticultural Area) and the Airport Ranches Vineyard in that State’s Yakima Valley AVA. However, fermentation to bottling, aging, and packaging—happened in British Columbia. It is an endearing story of growers and winemakers helping each other through challenging times.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Another beautiful wine stemming from a partnership with vineyard owners in Washington State, in order to source grapes to produce wines for the 2024 vintage after a harsh winter and frosts. This Pinot Gris stays true to everything Poplar Grove stands for, flavouful, crisp and clean, with beautiful balance. Aromas of lemon, lime pith, and white peach, along with hints of wet stone. Medium bodied, this wine shows a balance of crisp texture, with rounded softer notes, showing ripe citrus and stone fruit flavours, and more minerality on the finish. Enjoy with any white fish or shellfish dishes.
