Winemaker Gerard Bertrand loves the Mediterranean lifestyle. The vineyard for this wine lies between the mountains of Corbières and the lakes and beaches along the Mediterranean coastline in southern France. The Fitous region has a wide range of micro-climates and soils. This full-bodied red finishes with dark spices. Juicy-delicious, absolutely wonderful aromas and flavours of fleshy black jam, blackberry pie and some smoke. This is a dry, full-bodied wine but the riot of aromas are amazing.

Fitou food pairings: grilled pork chops, rack of BBQ ribs, veal Porterhouse, grilled lamb, lentil dishes.

Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Gerard Bertrand's Fitou 2014 is a steal of a deal at just under $17 - it delivers on every level. Well balanced, full bodied with rich flavors of blackberry, blueberry, smoke and spice. Perfect accompaniment to rosemary crusted lamb chops.
Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Gerard Bertrand 2014 Fitou reveals fruity aromas of strawberry and dark cherry, black tea and tree moss. Both tannin and acidity are present providing tart black cherry and strawberry, baking spice, mint and cured meat, with a medium finish. Made from Grenache and Carignan, this full body wine will pair well with blue cheese or before a meal as an aperitif. Enjoy.

Christian Marcoux
Produced by winemaker, Gerard Bertrand, this full-bodied Grenache and Carignan red wine blend from the Fitou wine region is simply juicy and delicious with its blackberry jam and smoky nose and ripe cherry, dark raspberry, spicy flavours on the palate. Tannins are present and peppery. Drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
