VIA’s Innovative winemaking spirit began with its first harvest in 2002. Its enthusiastic team strives to use the best technology to make excellent wines with the finest grapes from each of Chile’s wine regions. That is how the Chilcas Winery began in San Rafael, 20 km (12 miles) north of Talca, which was previously unknown to the wine world. The project grew from a 3.5 million liter winery to a 17 million liter facility with the best technology and equipment in just 4 years. Three more facilities were added during that time in Rio Claro in Molina, Tapihue in Casablanca, and Nilahue in Lolol, Colchagua. Winemaking at VIA is very closely tied to the high quality production process. Its philosophy is to achieve the best expression of terroir from the land that produces the grapes and thereby make the best wines that express the spirit of this great company. Everyone at VIA is motivated by what we like to call the “Black Sheep” spirit, the spirit of being someone special and out of the ordinary, someone who attracts attention, who captivates, and has character and personality. VIA wines reflect the work of a tremendous group of people. Our wines express the best of our grapes grown on more than 885 hectares of. These fruity, aromatic and expressive wines full of personality provoke a delightful sensorial explosion in every glass. We also have wines with big body and bold character that have contact with French and American oak barrels and give rise to our Reserva, Gran Reserva, and Premium wines. Our brands include Oveja Negra (Black Sheep) wines: fruity, unique, and expressive fusions with oak. Chilcas includes both varietal and reserve lines, as well as a premium wine, Chilcas One, which is produced with grapes grown on our San Rafael estate.
