Carol and Jim Parsons began their passion for wine in 1982, when they opened a retail wine and cheese store in Seattle. They have toured wine regions of the world, tasting, learning and increasing their appreciation for the complexities and nuances that combine to create great wine. With a group of seven friends, they made their first 50 cases of Red Sky Wine in their Bellevue home in 1999 under the guidance of their winemaker, John Ogburn. John continued as head winemaker until passing the reins to Carol in 2006. In that same year Red Sky had the fortune of bringing on Gretchen Michaels with her artist talents, recent wine industry experience and business background. Later, Red Sky gained the help of Dick Mettler, a graduate of South Seattle Community College's wine program, and retained the lab work of independent consulting enologist, Erica Orr. Today, Red Sky is predominantly a woman run winery. Jim & Dick still provides some much needed muscle on occasion as well as our tireless volunteers whom we could not do without!

The winery has grown slowly to a current production of 1000 cases producing wines from some of Washington's finest vineyards in an effort to produce rich, elegant and complex wines that compliment foods.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable: A Tipsy Search

  Best Books of the Year

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
