Established in 1994, Glen Fiona (Gaelic for "Valley of the Vine") was Walla Walla valley's first producer of premium Syrah and Rhone-style wines. Established as a winery with a single focus, the production of premium Rhone-style wines, Glen Fiona has since expanded by offering wines made in the Bordeaux tradition.
Each of Glen Fiona’s wines create several distinctive temptations for the palate and conveys the inimitable character of its particular terroir (special characteristics attributed to a sense of place) of the Walla Walla or Columbia ValleysGlen Fiona wines are made adhering to a natural, low--intervention methodology, with a strict rule against the practices of chaptalization and acidulation. All of our red wines undergo only a low-level sulfite regime at crush, and are allowed to slowly ferment in small, open-top fermentation vessels. The fermenting wine is circulated by means of our own combination of remontage (pumping over) and pigeage (punching down).
