Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
People - James and Bob Varner
Place - Central Coast, California
Time - Foxglove is the negociant project of brothers, Jim and Bob Varner who along with the Foxglove wines, produce world class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir under the Varner and Neely labels from their estate vineyards in the Santa Cruz mountains. Seeking top quality fruit the brothers have signed the growers to long term contracts. The vineyards are farmed sustainably and the goal is to produce the best possible wine for the price.

The fruit for the 2009 Chardonnay is mostly from Los Alamos in Santa Barbera County with the remainder coming from Paso Robles and Monterey County. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel, with some lees stirring and no malolactic fermentation.

The wines have been exceedingly well received.
