Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Not only is this a solid cremant, it has a specofic pedigree. Cremant D'Alsace allows for a slew of varietals to be used; any Pinot varietal, Gewurz, Riesling, Chardonnay, Muscat, Auxerrois etc. It is pretty rare for a wine to be 100% a single varietal; much less Chardonnay. This one comes from a specific vineyard in Obernai, Le Clos Sainte Odile.
The wine has a beautifully deep lemon-yellow colouration.
It isn't only the colour, but the aromas and taste that are uniquely concentrated, as well.
Yellow plum, applie pie, lemon juice, sultana raisin and honey on the nose.
The flavours are juicy and with not a tremndous amount of acidity or minerality - just a lot of body and intensity. More yellow plum, baked apple, flake pastry, lemon cake, yellow apple skin, and more honey.
This is a great offering from Pierre Sparr. It always delivers in quality and uniqueness.
We love crémant and we love this crémant. Pierre Sparr's Le Clos Sainte Odile Brut Crémant d'Alsace is 100% Chardonnay and is extra-dry. Light gold and rich with ripe apples, pears, refreshing acidity and persistent small bubbles on the palate, This wine is expressive, elegant and a joy to drink now and for the next three years. - Community Wine Reviews
