Giordano Collection Primitivo Di Manduria 2008, D.O.C., Puglia, Italy: Vintages Wine Panel: The Giordano family has been producing wine since 1900 and is deeply rooted in its traditions, but has also shown an openness to the innovations each generation has brought. This Primitivo has basked in the warm and windy climate of Puglia and is bursting with jammy fruit flavours as well as hints of figs, vanilla, tobacco and oak. Balanced by some gentle tannins, and with a long dry finish, this is a terrific wine. Winner of a Silver Medal at Monde Selection Bruxelles 2010. My note: Big juicy purple plums and blueberries, very Zinfandel like. Supple and full-bodied with a good-natured heart of hedonism. Perfect for barbecues with people you like.
