Santa Carolina Barrica Selection Carmenere Gran Reserva 2006, Rapel Valley, Chile: Vintages Wine Panel: This dry, full-bodied Carmenère is packed with blackberry and black cherry fruit as well as notes of tobacco and spice. Winemaker Sven Bruchfeld blends in 12% Cabernet Sauvignon for additional structure and complexity. My note: Spectacularly solid for the money. Great party wine. Notes of black fruit and full-on oak.
