Deborah Podurgiel WSET Dip. Candidate rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This is the fourth vintage of this bright and fragrant estate Pinot Noir from Upper Bench Estate Winery on the Naramata Bench. Produced from grapes sourced from the winery’s sustainably farmed estate vineyard, the 2018 offering is fragrant with ripe red cherry, red berry, fresh violets, sous bois and dark chocolate aromas. It is unfined, dry, medium-plus-bodied and concentrated on the palate with bright Bing cherry, fresh violets, spicy cinnamon, red licorice, toasty oak spice and a kiss of dark chocolate and a medium-plus-length finish. Well-balanced with fresh acidity and structured tannins that are velvety. This vintage was aged 18 months in French oak barrels (30% new). Drink or hold in cellar for three-plus years. If you are having it tonight, decant and lightly chill the wine one hour prior to pouring it with a duck confit dish, or a simple grilled smoked Gouda cheese sandwich. Tasted February 2022.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
