Paula Bernardino rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

I attended the Pure Discovery 2019 event featuring wines from New Zealand. At the Toronto event May 8, 2019 I focused on New Zealand’s reds, which included mainly Pinot Noir, Merlot and Syrah.

I tried the Pinot Noir from Loveblock Vintners. Purplelish colour with aromas of dark cherry and smoky. Flavours of cherry and red berries. Lovely label.
Brent Gushowaty rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

The grapes for this wine are from Central Otago and grown in a combination of free-draining sandy loam over schist alluvium gravels known as Molyneux soils. The clones are B777, 667, 115, (Pommard) and Abel. Some whole berries and stems were utilized in the vinification and a five-day cold soak, the must was warmed and the fermentation was spontaneous.

It begins with a light, savoury cherry but otherwise is fairly undefined. The palate follows the nose with a mild, savoury cherry and some cement basement. It has good balance and an appropriate supporting acidity. This is relatively simple, straightforward quaffing pinot noir to drink and enjoy. Tasted at the Pure Discovery New Zealand Wine event in Vancouver May 2019.

Melanie Lloyd rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Aromas of cranberry, raspberry, sour cherry, vanilla, and cedar. Flavours of Montmorency cherry, cranberry and hints of vanilla seeping through. It’s fresh, juicy and tart with smooth tannins.

This would pair well with barbecued salmon on a wood plank.

Tasted at the Pure Discovery New Zealand Wine event in Ottawa May 2019.

Natalie's Review

Loveblock Pinot Noir 2018, Central Otago, South Island, New Zealand: Love this Pinot Noir from the Central Otago wine region, lush and juicy with ripe fresh cherry, raspberry, white pepper and anise spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm, textured and grippy. Pair with roast duck. Drink: 2020-2030. 313924 13.50% XD 750 mL  $37.95 Score: 94/100. December 15, 2020 Top Rated Red Wine. Delightful Duck Wine  Full Review
