Tasted May 16th 2018 at wine club. Colour dark core to medium red on the rim. Legs medium. Aromas and flavours of blackberry, cherry, and violets. Taste dry, medium mouthfeel, light tannins, finish medium minus. Easy to drink wine good value we paired it with fatty cured meat.

This is an impressive wine for an unassuming price. Eastern European wine regions may see less attention in Morth American Markets, but it is entirely undeserved. They have some of the oldest traditional regions in the world growing unique varietals that are as rare as they are hard to pronounce.
This ia a Vranac from its native Montenegro. Montenegro is a Balkan state near Serbia (which shares similar traditions and terroirs). Vramac can be tannic, robust, floral, and earthy. This one is relatovely balanced in the spice and earth side.
It saw French oak after roto-fermentation to soften tannins. It saw spontaneous malolactic and it alsp comes from very old vines (averaging 36 years old and up).
Vranac Also share s genetic history to Primitivo (aka: Zinfandel). It shares a darkness in colour and some spices, though it is more floral and firm.
The colour is very sanguinary. Some bluish hues to it too.
Aromas are smoky, with some blueberry, tobacco, scorched earth, leather, overripe blackberry, dried currants, and cranberry.
This one has some great fruit which come out after a decant (1-2 hours). The dried berry and blueberry show much more on the palate. It has lots of fresh acidity for a wine this old. Plum, currant, tobacco, smoking cinder.
A remarkable steal. It's a good chance to try something new and get a bargain all at once.
This wine pairs very well with rare meats. It goes great with fatty cured meats and root veggies too. What a cool wine.
