Croft Reserve Tawny Port

Tasted during the winter of 2017-2018. If you enjoy a nice after dinner drink or a bed time tipple this tawny port is nice to enjoy. Lots of rich caramel, burnt sugar candy and silky smoothness. A great value for the price. I will be on the look out to buy more next winter. Nuts and cheese wine. You can even add a shot to Earl Grey tea.

Tasted twice.
Reserve, in this sense, is a marketing term on behalf of Kobrand Wine and Spirits to denote a wine distinct from their other Tawny wines.
The goal with this one was to combine the softness and finesse of older wines (mainly 7 year old) and younger, more bold wines.
This one exemplifies the complexity one expects in a tawny. Burnt orange, woth a vibrant reddish blush to it in the centre. It is really easy to drink and enjoy, actually.
Aromas of caramel, cream, candied nuts, red apple skin, fig, and prune.
Quite viscous. This usually happens to older, somewhat oxidative ports, as some of the stock evaporates in the barrel (called the angel's share).
More caramelized sugar, dried banana, berries, apple rings, mulling spice, and dried figs.
It will keep for a while, but is made for enjoyment now. The amount of effort that goes into making legit Port for the price it commands is astounding... Port is predicted to increase soon. Stock up!
