Greg Hughes rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

They don't state the varietal for this wine on the label or website, but a wild guess of Pinot Noir, or maybe a Bordelais blend considering it's Hawke's Bay.
It has a deep pink hue from extended maceration, so it has the weight of new world rosé.
That being said, it's dry and juicy.
Aromatically, it smells like macerated grapes, currants, sage, and vanilla.
Lot's of cherry, raspberry, and plum. A little spice and vanilla. It really does taste a lot like a rosé made with Merlot.
Pleasant rosé from an extremely influential producer in New Zealand. Put this wine with spider rolls or deviled eggs.
Sylvain Segard reviewed this wine as follows:

There is nothing soft about this rosé! Made of Merlot and Pinot Gris grapes from Marlborough, this award winning wine has become New Zealand's number one rosé.

It presents with a vibrant pink colour and displays an intense bouquet of strawberry, watermelon, and spices -- flavours that also repeat in a medium length dry finish. Light and refreshing and sure to please. Score 89. (Reviewed Nov. 2016)
Cora Beaulieu rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The nose is dominated by a sweet-smelling wine with aromas of confectionary, strawberry, rhubarb, lime and floral petals. The palate is fresh and brimming with fruit, strawberry and rhubarb flavours. A dry styled wine it has a lovely richness, lively acidity, is well balanced and refined. It lingers, with fruit, on the palate. A solid rosé which is fantastic for warm summer days.
Lynn van der Linde rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Rich and bright pink the glass, this best selling NZ rosé brings back memories of strawberry strudel dessert, but transforms on the palate with a dry and smooth finish. Perfect with simple hors d'oeuvres or sipping on the back patio.
Tasted Nov 2016.
Matt Steeves rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Award winning Villa Maria's Private Bin Rose is so popular its earned the title as New Zealand's number one selling Rose. The nose shows sweet strawberry shortcake, summer herbs, and filed-fresh red berry notes. Made from Hawkes Bay Merlot, with a splash of Pinot Gris, this wine is balanced, fresh, and delicious. Summer in a glass. There's no wonder why it's so popular. Enjoy this fun and fruity wine throughout the year and make sure you save a case for patio season. Tasted November 2016. 90 points. Lori Kilmartin WSET3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a Rosé to drink year round! If you are a fan of Merlot you will love this pretty pink from Villa Maria which is predominantly Merlot with some Pinot Gris adding a spicy note. Dry on the palate but with sweet aromas of strawberries. Drink with a watermelon salad in the summer and charcuterie platter hearthside in the winter! Tasted November 15, 2016.
Jane Staples rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This Hawkes Bay, NZ Rosé is a bright coral pink from Merlot skin contact. It's New Zealand's #1 selling Rosé and easy to see why, with its pretty aromas and flavours of strawberry and watermelon. 2016 was warm in Hawkes Bay, allowing a harvest of fully ripened grapes with optimum fruit flavours. This Rosé smells sweet, but tastes dry and is a great match with Prosciutto or savoury appetizers.
Tasted Nov. 2016
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Don't let the bright pink colour fool you, this is quite a serious rose! Mostly Merlot, with some Pinot Gris, so soft tannins support the dried red berry (strawberry, cranberry) flavour. Fresh, succulent and very versatile, it is delicious with tortellini in gorgonzola-cream sauce.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This Rose is very fragrant on the nose with a mix of strawberries, pretty florals and a hint of stewed raspberries - it has a crisp freshness to it on the palate and a smooth finish. This wine would be divine on a warm patio day with salad of raw spiraled zucchini and cucumber dressed with a hint of coconut oil topped with tiny goat cheese balls rolled in hemp hearts!

Natalie's Review

Villa Maria Estate Private Bin Rosé 2016, Marlborough, New Zealand: Pretty aromas of field strawberries tickle the nose and senses on this vibrant New Zealand rosé. It's dry and delicate yet refreshing. It finishes with a touch of spice and sun-dappled berries. Pair with planked salmon. Serve chilled.
