Alex: A lick of new wood on the nose, backed by plum, strawberry, tobacco and incense. Dusty, sweet and sour palate with savoury herbs, nutmeg, vanilla and tobacco. A more modern take, and fair drop for sub ~$20. 86 pts

Raspberry, blackberry, anise, vanilla, leather, tobacco, black earth, and mint on the nose. Even more complex on the palate, with some cocoa, baking spices, and dark cherry coming through. Medium-full bodied, supple, and balanced.

Complex aromas of plum, blackberry, cassis, mineral, mocha, and sweet baking spices leap out of the glass. The palate is rich and smooth with mouthwatering acidity. Flavours of plum, tobacco, graphite and dark chocolate follow through to the long finish. The tannins are well integrated. Pair with braised beef or hearty stews.

Go big or go home...
Appearance: medium-dark ruby red
Nose: leather, grilled meat, mocha, wood, tobacco.
Taste: strong leather, tobacco. Definitely needs food with strong flavours. Should be great with any meat on the BBQ
Finish: again, strong leather, tannins, quite a long finish.
Overall impression: An interesting, old world wine that should pair well with strong flavoured dishes. It should probably be decanted for a while and could be cellared longer so that the notes

Smells and tastes like a spanish wine. That means the barrique works shows on the nose with torrefaction, dried herbs and black current aromas. The mouth is good with plenty of fruit and integrated tannins, but it is not very original. You feel the alcohol, but it is not unpleasant. Would pair well with grilled meat.

Nice big aromas with a beautiful (albeit Spanish) balance between fresh and dried fruit and oak. Aged, big, smooth, balanced and long - what else could you ask for?

Clear medium ruby in colour this Tempranillo has a pronounced complex nose of leather, spice, dark fruits and some sweet caramel. Juicy blackberry fruit and black pepper spice with a good integration of firm tannins. This is a savoury red that would be a great match with beef, chorizo and lamb.

Aromas include some anise, leather, plums and some floral notes. Medium body and tannin, bright acidity. Great with hard cheese and charcuterie.

A delectable Spanish wine. Aromas of leather, dark chocolate, fruit (figs), herbs, violets, spices and cedar. Similar flavours and a long dry finish. This tempranillo is good value and will pair nicely with roast lamb or strong aged Spanish cheeses.

Hypnotizing complex aromas of dark plum, cassis, leather, mocha, cedar, cigar box and baking spice billow from the glass. The palate shows equally clean and complex flavours including: dark chocolate, black plum, sweet tobacco, dried currants, toast and baking spices. This wine is full bodied with a mouthwatering acidity, integrated tannins and a long finish. It pairs very well with braises and roasts. Tasted Nov 2015.
Jane Staples rated this wine as

Clear garnet with a nose of cherry and vanilla. The palate gives cherries, vanilla, tobacco, licorice, pepper and black olive with good acidity and a fresh herbal/cherry finish.
