Jason Beggs rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a great alternative to overwhelming California steak wines. It has strong flavours of blackberry and currants with hints of flint and black pepper to balance it. Enjoy with a filet mignon or marinated flank steak. It could also just as easily be sipped with strong cheeses. ..it seems like a mature wine that knows what it wants to be when it grows up. The price seems a bit lower than it should be...a very good wine.
Heather Wall rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Price performer! 90 pts Wine Spectator Smart Buys. This silky wine from the Languedoc region of France has lots to offer at $17. Baked cherry, cassis, black pepper, baking spices with medium+ balanced acidity. Tastes like a higher price tag. Pair with finer cuts of beef or crudite plate.

Natalie's Review

Gérard Bertrand Syrah Grenache 2011, Languedoc A.P., France: Savoury and juicy with meaty, dark spice character. Amazing QPR: quality price quality. This is mostly Syrah and Grenache in the blend. The greater diurnal shift (change) between daytime and night-time temperatures in the region intensifies the dark fruit and dense cassis character of the wine. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for a minimum of 12 months. Pair with prime rib. Drink: 2014-2018. 413237 13.50% XD 750 mL  $18.95 Score: 90/100. May 2, 2015 Best Value Red Wine. The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
