Ridge Geyserville Zinfandel 2011, Sonoma County, California, United States: The exact proportions of grapes in this blend change each year based on harvest conditions, but the vast majority is usually Zinfandel. However, according to American AVA viticultural laws, a wine must be a minimum of 75% of a single grape to be labeled as such. So even if there's 74% Zinfandel in the blend, it may not be called Zinfandel. I like Ridge's approach though as it allows for vintage variation and winemaking mastery each year. This is concentrated, deep, rich and complex. Savour it slowly. Drink: 2014-2019. 723072 14.50% XD 750 mL $52.95 Score: 94/100. June 7, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. Best Beef Wine Full Review
