Eye:
Pale, medium lemon, touch of greenish gold

Nose:
Vanilla, lemon, candied lemon, pear, some honey,

Palate:
Coconut, vanilla, oak, pear, lemon, honey, stone fruit. Very smooth silky texture , excellent acidity and balance. Medium bodied, medium intensity. Finishes dried/candied pear. Oak and fruit fairly well integrated now but should be even better in 3-5 years. 91 points.

The wine was fermented in 100% new oak barrels, spent 6 months on the lees and undergone full malolactic fermentation.
85 Cases (4 barrels) produced

This wine is part of a special release of four "best barrel" wines from the excellent 2012 vintage to mark the 25th anniversary of Quails' Gate Winery. All were made by Nicky Callaway and are only available at the winery. The other three are: The Bench Pinot Gris 2013, Richard’s Block Pinot Noir 2012 and The Boswell Syrah 2012. Each label features a depiction of a quilt made by Rosemary Stewart.
