Classically made Chardonnay with balance and finesse, but it also reveals lip-smacking delicious flavours of green apple and butterscotch. The winemaking Kautz family was first to plant Chardonnay grapes in Lodi and that experience with the varietal shows. There's a crisp, refreshing finish. Crack it open tonight.

Chardonnay food pairings: linguine and shrimp in a creamy pesto sauce, prawn bisque, chicken breast, frittata, cheese fondue, pork or chicken skewers.

Darlene Myers CAPS Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

I love the Zinfandel from the Ironstone winery, so I had to try the Chardonnay. I love a California Chardonnay, and this one did not disappoint. Full bodied and complex with that buttery smoothness that comes from oak aging. Tropical fruit flavors, apple with a hint of butterscotch, this could become one of my favorites.
Quite an evocative nose with significant banana, apple and sandalwood aromas. Round, generous and juicy on the palate with a gently articulated toasty note riding on the fruit. This is a no-nonsense Cali Chard that delivers what it promises. Source: Vintages Wine Panel, May 2013
