This French white wine is citrus-driven rather than herbal or grassy. Classic Old World Sauvignon Blanc. There's a pale straw hue in the glass. This aromatic French white wine hails from the Loire Valley. Pair with Dover sole in a lemon butter sauce.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: pan-seared scallops with grilled asparagus, cheese, pasta with cream-based sauce, pizza, sushi.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Deliciously pure Sauvignon Blanc. Fumé refers to not only the smokey 'flint' quality to describe the mineral tones the wine get from the soil of the Upper Loire, but also the grey bloom of yeast on the grapes that makes the grapes in this area a dusky colour.
This example has a lovely honey-yellow colour.
You can smell it before you even get close to the glass. It teems with crunchy fruit - tart apple, minerality from the smokiness, citrus, and parsley.
The flavours are really pleasant. Lots more minerality, juicy citrus (grapefruit and lemon), and apple skin.
It's a Sauvignon Blanc woth a soft texture and with great complexity. As it breathes, a smokey lemon quality comes out more and more.
This is a suave choice for a dinner party. Pair this alongside Meule de Savoie.
Sara rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Rich, good fruit, juicy acid
This Pouilly-Fumé (2015) from France's Loire wine region has the typical smokiness and racy acidity this region gives to its wine grapes and wine. Domaine Des Fines Caillottes is an old-world citrusy Sauvignon Blanc with smoky, mineral notes; in the glass, the wine is the colour of pale straw. Classic Old World Sauvignon Blanc, the wine is produced by Jean Pabiot & Fils. This winery practices sustainable agriculture. Grape vines are planted in a pebbly marl, gravel and limestone soil known as "les caillottes". Wines from this area are fruity and balanced. The wine is bottled in the heart of the Les Loges village in the underground cellars. Previous vintages of this wine won a Silver Medal winner at the prestigious Concours Mondial du Sauvignon wine competition. - Community Wine Reviews
