The winery KHS is a family business since 4 generations. Located in the Lower Austrian Traisental, the 4.2 hectares of cultivated land are planted with 3/4 of the area with white wine varieties and 1/4 with red wine varieties.

Influenced by the Danube, our small climatic zone is almost ideal for viticulture. The gravelly slopes also promote a taste-pure growth of the grapevines.

Our philosophy is to bring the wines - by nature - as possible without "Chaptalisierung" and other treatments in the bottles.

As a master craftsman with butler, we vouch for quality. Our grand-grandparents founded our winery around the turn of the century, and were later divided into 3 lines by inheritance, reunited by our father, KARL SCHNABL, born 1925 - died 1995.

Like almost everywhere else, the current generation is busy maintaining the old traditions, but not to miss the modernization.

The present cellar master Ing. KARL-HEINZ SCHNABL has been managing the winery since 1995. In the future, this traditional winery will probably be continued by a descendant of the SCHNABL family in the sense of previous generations.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
