Jean-Claude Albert, businessman native of Narbonne, is a nature lover, and specifically a birds’specialist.Looking for a haven of peace, in order to realize his passion, he falls in love, in 2004 - 2005, of two beautiful wine estates around Narbonne. In 2013, his daughter, Beatrice, joined him, and they create together the company SARL Maison Albert, in order to push the increase of the two estates, and to set up a new sales structure.
The Château Auris is located in the Corbières, on the outskirts of the city of Narbonne. Neighbouring the Fontfroide abbey, it used to be a Cistercian barn as from the 12th century. The oldest written evidence of vineyard at Auris goes back to 1736.
On the north slope of the “Fontfroide massif”, the position of its hillsides permits a gentle ripening of the grapes, preserving fresh fruit aromas and vivacity. There are two types of soils : sandstone colluvium, which gives elegant full bodied red wines and sandclay, which is well adapted to the production of aromatic rosé and white wines.
In the Heart of Languedoc, surrended by the Massif of La Clape, between Narbonne and the Mediterranean, the Domaine Les Bugadelles was transformed in 2004 when Mr Jean-Claude Albert purchased it. Aiming for excellence, the best terroirs were identified and cleared for the plantation of vines (40ha), olive and fruit trees as well as truffle oaks.
Since the early works, we have focused on agricultural practices that respect our regional identity and our environment, with as well the “agropastoralism”. This approach, associated with a protected situation, make ideal conditions for organic farming. Furthermore, the cellar, totally built into the rock, will enable us to treat our precious crop with a lot of care. Close to the vineyard, we have designed a cellar that is adapted to our terroir and respects the rules of fine wines production.
So far, the vineyard of Domaine les Bugadelles was classified in IGP Pays d’OC. But now, and since the vintage 2015, the vineyard is classified in AOC La Clape, Cru of Languedoc. In this estate, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier, Muscat, and Bourboulenc are cultivated.
