Terrific structure yet the tannins don't accumulate in your mouth like an astringent car crash. It remains full-bodied and fresh with ripe fleshy dark fruit. A towering wine of distinction.

Reviews and Ratings

Lesley Quinn - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The Afincado Malbec is special in a few ways. For starters it is only produced during excellent vintages, the grapes are harvested from vineyards that lie 3,500 ft above sea level, and it is made from 100% free run juice also known as "noble juice". Free run juice is when the freshly picked bunches of grapes are stacked up on top of each other, the sheer weight of all the fruit results in the release of some liquid of exceptional quality. The end result is a wine with pure fruit flavours of cherries and plums, some exotic aromas of wild flowers and incense with gripping tannins and a chewy texture. The finish is a lingering combination of cocoa and coffee with blackberry jam that seems to go on forever. Oh ya this is a special wine perfect for a special night, best enjoyed with a cut of dry-aged beef.
