Sella & Mosca Riserva Cannonau di Sardegna, Sardinia, Italy is a bold and characterful red made from the island’s signature Cannonau grape, known elsewhere as Grenache. It opens with mature aromas of violet, ripe plum, blackcurrant and jam, layered with notes of spice and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is medium to full-bodied, dry and well-structured, showing warm dark fruit, balsamic hints and subtle toasted oak, with balanced acidity leading to a long, gently spiced finish at around 13.5 to 14% alcohol. Fascinating fact: Cannonau is one of the oldest grape varieties in the Mediterranean and is deeply tied to Sardinian culture, where it thrives in coastal winds and rocky soils that give the wine its distinctive herbal and savoury character. Serve it at cool room temperature.

Food pairings: braised lamb shank, grilled sausages, wild boar stew, roasted eggplant.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A lovely wine made from Sardinian grapes. Aromas of red berries, cedar, tobacco, and a touch of cigar box. Medium bodied with bright acidity, bright fruit notes, and some earthy notes. Enjoy with pork or mushroom dishes.
