This savoury, full-bodied northern Italian red wine offers exotic aromas of wild truffle, tanned leather, smoke and some char. Very complex and attractive. Pair with fine cuts of meat.

Brunello Di Montalcino food pairings: hard cheese, veal piccata, grilled steak, roast leg of lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Good value Brunello with fantastic aromatics and ripeness. It's an all Sangiovese wine from one of Tuscany's most revered areas.
Vibrant, bright colour that deserves a big glass.
The aromas have lots of savoury aromas of leather, mushroom, woodsmoke, and bay. Nice, ripe fruit. Cherry, pomegranate, cassis, and orange peel.
Flavours of sour cherry, pomegranate, dried herbs, orange zest, mushroom, and earth. Still pretty fresh. Some good acidity and soft tannins. In spite of the savouriness, it's still juicy.
Classic pairing for this wine is rabbit, typically. Peking duck would be delicious. Simple charcuterie would be great too.
Simon Chen rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

A new world style Brunello. Very dark in color and nose is very woody, leather, and plummy. The wine has sour berry and plum acid with long finishing dry tannin. Medium+ body. The strong stringent plum gives a very unpleasant finish. Not sure whether it'll go away with breathing.
Quercecchio's Premium Wine Selection (2011) is a savoury Brunello di Montalcino from the Tuscany wine region with an exotic palate of concentrated dried cherries, black truffle, smoked meat and toast on the palate. Not for the faint of heart, but killer with roasted game meats. - Community Wine Reviews
