Reviews and Ratings

Puklavec and Friends Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay from Podravska, Slovenia is a bright, light-bodied dry white grown on the sun-drenched, terraced hillside vineyards of the Ljutomer-Ormož wine area in northeast Slovenia, where the same latitude as Bordeaux, over 2,000 sunshine hours per year, and a distinctive continental microclimate produce white wines of genuine freshness and aromatic verve. It opens with an inviting nose of ripe nectarine, elderflower blossom, and kiwi, with the Sauvignon Blanc lending a vivid aromatic lift and the Chardonnay adding a softening, rounded body that makes the whole wine feel seamless and generous, finishing with a clean, invigorating acidity. Serve it well chilled and enjoy it through 2028. Winemaker Luka Radicek, an oenologist trained at the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb who joined the Puklavec team after experience at two respected Croatian wineries, works alongside a dedicated team to craft wines that put Slovenian viticulture firmly on the international map. Fascinatingly, Puklavec Family Wines maintains what is believed to be the largest white wine archive in Slovenia, with over 250,000 bottles dating back to 1959, including Sauvignon Blancs from the 1970s still in vibrant drinking condition, a remarkable testament to the ageability of wines from this remarkable region. - Community Wine Reviews

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
