Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A beautifully expressive, single vineyard Chardonnay with ripe red apple, dried pineapple, mango, vanilla and buttery, toasty aromas on the nose. Dry, full-bodied and voluptuous with ripe pear, apple, lemon curd, buttered toast, smoky vanilla and oak spice flavours that are integrating nicely. Finishing long and delicious now but will further marry and mellow with a couple of years in cellar. Great acidity for food and warming at 13.9% abv. Pair it with a bacon-wrapped roast grouse in bannock.

The Chardonnay grapes for this vintage were sourced from Jager’s Rock Vineyard in Cawston. Sixty per cent of the wine was fermented and matured in new French oak barrels with 40% fermented and aged in stainless steel tank. Both wine batches were aged on the lees with lees stirring every three weeks to soften the acidity (full malolactic fermentation) while adding a smoky vanilla flavour, buttery notes and mouth feel to the wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
